Brazilian Marcello Machado has been training since he was 13 years old and developed a powerful physique. The 5'10", 185 lbs., 21 year old student says he just likes looking good but is training for Musclemania in the near future. Marcello says, "I got started training because I saw the gym guys around my city and they really looked good. So, I started training after school and grew fast. Its a lot of fun and I like the way its looks. But, I don't want to compete until I think I can really make an impact. I promise, it's not too far away."
"Can I get more?," says Musclemania Pro Simeon Panda. "Hell yea! I already put 7 kg (15+ lbs.) back on since my show in Miami 2 weeks ago and just as lean." Simeon was a Top 5 Finalist at his first MM Pro show, but that's not enough, he says. "My next show is Musclemania® World in Las Vegas in November and I'm going to come in large yet aesthetic!" Simeon will be a guest start at MM Britain in London in September 14.
Former Mexico Champion Fabian Zavala hasn't been on stage for nearly 10 years, but the 5'10", 210 lbs. fitness equipment manufacturer is still considered a legendary Musclemania star. Fabian had incredible size while classic aesthetics and lean condition and always a great Musclemania representative. www.musclemanialatino.com

Playtime after showtime at Musclemania Universe in Miami Beach. (L-R) Ty Ogedegbe (MM Pro Tall & Overall), Gio Crawford (Model Short), Joe Parsee (MM Pro Short) and Andrew Awak (MM MW).  The Pool and Beach Party was a blast with many of the Fitness Universe Weekend competitors spending the afternoon together, swimming, jet skiing, laying out, eating and drinking.  Many of the media in town for the show were there, too, shooting their favorite ladies and guys for magazines and promotions.
New Mexico natural star Bobby Hinojos says he's ready for showtime. The 5'10", 195 lbs., 28 year old trainer hasn't competed for two years, but says, "I am going to Kansas City for the Mid America show next month. And then to Musclemania in Las Vegas." Bobby's got classic symmetry and real aesthetics and always is a favorite.
He surprised everyone at his first event competition. Rob Niter Niter took the Model Lone Star in May, but the 5'9", 185 lbs. US Air Force technician already has his sights set on his next show. Rob says, "Everything is going as planned. I'm still trying to zero in on adding muscle to my lower half by adding a tad bit more carbs to the mix. On the same token trying to stay lean up top. It's a challenge, but hopefully I'll figure it out one of these days:) I took 1 week off from training/nutrition while visiting home. I definitely had to pay for it, but I'm back on track." And, if you couldn't tell by his comments, Rob will be taking his ever growing physique and switching to Musclemania.
New MM Universe Pro Champion Ty Ogedegbe says, "I had loads of fun on the beach while out in Miami but now play times are up! I'm back in the gym, routine, plan of action, diet, check! And I'm going for another title in Las Vegas? Musclemania! I wouldn't miss it for the world."
One of the country's top sports models, Edwin Monzalvo was a popular entry and fan favorite at Model Mexico. The 5'9", 187 lbs., 26 year old model and actor has appeared in many commercial projects and fashion modeling runway shows and advertisements. Currently, Edwin is in Europe working on a television series while training his physique for Model Latino in October. He says, "I love doing commercial work, but my passion is training and looking good."
Hardcore and natural, Honduran bodybuilder Jhonny Vasquez made an impressive appearance at Musclemania® Universe. The 5'8", 180 lbs. fitness center owner wasn't a Top 5 Finalist, but every time he competes in Miami Beach, Johnny allures a big fan following. He will make a special appearance at MM Central America in Guatemala in September and bring a big team of new natural bodybuilders and fitness competitors to the show.
It was a battle to the end when MM Universe Pros Ty Ogedegbe (L - Short Class) and legendary Morris Mendez (R - Tall Class) faced each other on stage in Miami Beach. Ty traveled from London and was competing as a MM Pro for the first time. The 5'8", 195 lbs., British bomber impressed the judges with a powerful, thick and rugged physique. Natural veteran Morris has taken on all comers before smashing them with confidence with his 5'10", 210 lbs. classic symmetry and full muscle bellies. But in the judges eyes, Ty had the physical package and condition and edged out Morris in an oh' too close 3-2 vote for the overall. No doubt it could have gone the other way on any other day and/or any other judges. But when you're on stage with the world's best natural bodybuilders, either you stomp your competition with impressive size, classic symmetry, lean condition and a flawless presentation, or its anyone's game. So, it was Ty-O's well earned trophy to claim in his first MM Pro outing. But, no doubt, The Legend will be back to remind everyone who has more MM crowns than anyone else!
As the new Model Universe Champion, Aaron Bean says, "The fitness side of the business is fairly new to me but I clearly feel very comfortable on stage and learned a lot about how to improve for future competitions." The 6'3", 178 lbs., 39 year old Floridian is a full time fashion and commercial model with Wilhelmina in Miami and Adam in New York City. So, how does a successful model train for fitness shows. Aaron explains, "It's a challenge, though a fun one, to manage to find the right balance between having some size for these shows and maintaining the needed slenderness and proportions I need for fashion modeling." He went to say that he's on fire and already preparing for Model America in Las Vegas in November.

Musclemania Universe Champions Sheronica Henton (R - Women) and Julian Navarro (L - Junior & Open Overall) were champions in so many ways last month in Miami Beach. Sheronica is a US Army soldier stationed in Germany. She was the '12 Figure Europe Champion and competing in the Universe was a natural progression in his competitive career. Julian stormed his way on to the stage and stunned everyone. They were part of the 25 member Team Korea delegation at the Fitness America Weekend. Now, Kim becomes a MM Pro and will soon compete against the world's best natural bodybuilders in Las Vegas in November.
Musclemania Juniors including winner Julian Navarro (Right) were ripped and ready to take stage at MM Universe last month in Miami Beach. Abbas Ansar (Center) who won the '12 MM Universe Junior took 2nd Place this time. He's the MM Pakistan Champion and always an incredible performer on stage. Japanese junior Yasuhito Kashima (Behind, Center) took 3rd Place and first timer Feky Clairvoyant captured 4th Place.
Indonesia natural star Ricky Syamsuri is back into serious, competition training for Musclemania World in Las Vegas. The 5'8", 195 lbs., trainer is legendary, but wants more. A MM Pro for nearly 10 years, Ricky says, "I'll be the toughest Asian to beat in the MM Pro line up. I will bring 10 lbs. more quality muscles on stage, guaranteed!" Ricky will be sending new photos and video weekly as he trains for Las Vegas in November.
"Pushing it to the limit' is a motto of mine and Vegas 2013 will be no different," so says Musclemania® Pro Griffen Datcher III. The 6'4", 265 lbs. natural Texas phenom continues, "God willing, I will be at the Worlds for my first show this year. I plan on bringing a more conditioned physique along with balance and symmetry. I will be in the best condition of my life! I already look better than my last showing in Miami and I still have several months to prepare. Slow and steady will win the race and the heavyweight trophy!"
Mexican gym owner Ivan Estrada trains a team of kids at his El Gallo Gym near Guadalajara. The 5'10", 185 lbs., 28 year old Musclemania Mexico and Model Top 5 Finalist says he's got dozens of kids training and feels keeping them in shape is part of his responsibility as a gym owner. "These guys are the future of our country and keep them healthy and fit is the right thing to do," Ivan says. As for his own training, he is pumping for MM Latino in Mexico City in October. www.musclemanialatino.com

Morris Muscle Model

Congrats to Musclemania Pro Morris Mendez who commands the final edition cover of Musclemag. Just received by subscribers and released at newsstands, the magazine features Morris during an intense workout captured by famed fitness photographer Alex Ardenti. Unfortunately, after over a quarter century representing the fitness and bodybuilding community, Robert Kennedy Publishing ceased operations two weeks ago and closed respected magazines like Oxygen, Reps!, Curves and Musclemag. Morris says, "It is a great honor to have been selected as the final cover model of the magazine. Like thousands of other hard core guys, I will miss Musclemag. Lots of natural bodybuilders like me were always respected and featured. Thank you, Bob Kennedy."

Making the Trip

Belgium junior star Erko Jun is bumping up his game and making the trip to MM Universe in Miami Beach. After winning many European junior titles, the 5'10", 198 lbs. former school jock says he feels like its time to move on to bigger shows. "I am 100% natural, so I knew I had to start doing the Musclemania shows," Erko explains. "Some of friends in the US said I should compete and be seen at the Miami Beach show (Universe), so since I am at my biggest and best shape ever, it was time to make the big move." The 6'7" giant will be the biggest frame to MM Universe in two weeks. Aaron explains, "At this point, I am just working on my routine. Everything else is in place and I feel really good. I haven't put anything off. I'm putting everything into this. I am ready!"
